Hey, I know some things about ADD. It stands for attention deficit disorder and means that you can't sit still or think very well in school. My brother has ADD. He is real hyper.

A.D.D is were the person cant sit still and if they dont get attention they will go crazy.

I know it means attention deficit disorder. It is when you can't focus on something.

For those of you who didn't know a lot about A.D.D. please read the posts and answer the following question:

What do you think it would be like to have a sibling with A.D.D.?

Anonymous said...

I no a lot about ADD (attention deficit disorder) now, but, a few years ago, I had no idea! then, I found out that someone I know very closley had been diagnosed with it. I undersood how hard it is, not being able to sit still, pay attention, and always feeling like you can't match up to others. I know that she also writes about it in her diary, she thinks it helps her a lot. She says that all her friends at school get better grades, and are more organized and stuff. I say that ADD is what makes her who she is, and that I wouldn't change a thing. Her mom is very proud of her too... she can tell!!!

If i had a sibling with a.d.d. i think i would go crazy if they didnt act good and wouldnt listen. I would also be scared if they would like get really wild and like attack you.

Anonymous said...

I think that it would be hard to have a sybling with ADD decause you might have to remind them about things and really help them a lot. I do not think that they would attack you. (as KMG responded)

Mrs. B said...

Good point, ACG! I also do not believe that a sibling with A.D.D. would attack you. As you will soon see in the book, even Joey, who has an extreme case of this disorder, does not physically harm others on purpose.

My husband actually has A.D.D. and ACG is right. I often have to remind him to do things and be patient with him, which is sometimes frustrating, but I have to keep in mind that he's not trying to frustrate me!

i think it would be very hard to have a sibling with a.d.d because i would probably have to take care of her

Anonymous said...

I think that they will want to dostuff wih you and wont stop being exited.I dont think they will have much friends. I think that they will not gt along ithfamily members.

attention deficit disorder doesn't mean that you constantly need attention (read BRE's responce for the first question). It means that the person has a hard time paying ATTETION, and sitting still for periods at a time (not trying to be mean or anything, like a know-it-all but...) trust me, I know this stuff really well.

I think that the book will be very good. I didnt read a lot yet, but so far it is a pretty good book. Does anyone else think that it is a good book?

This is a very good book, I totally agree with KMC, though I haven't read it all yet either. I really think that I will love this book a lot!

I dont get why the dad ran away and the mom chased the dad. My favorite charecter is joey because he doesnt care if people think he is crazy. I dont think the teacher knows he has a.d.d. because she sent him to the principals office. when he cant help acting like that.At first i didnt like the mom because she just walked in and started changing stuff, now i like the mom because she cares about him more.Like about the medicine she says its medicine so it makes joey feel better. I think the grandma just but her shoe by the sewer so it makes it look like she was in there, and i think the reason she did that so she could get a break from joey.

Mrs.B why did the dad run awawy and why did the mom chase after him?

When we first started to talk about reading this book I was actually sort-of nervous (now, I know that you now probably think that I am insane-but, OK-just go and read the next part already)! Well I was nervous that maybe when I was blogging or talking it might slip out that I have ADD myself. NO- this is not slipping out right now! But anyways, ADD is very extremely hard to deal with. When I wrote on the blog I referred to myself as "someone I know very closely". I wrote about myself. I used to look in the mirror and think, how stupid. I would say it when I looked at my report card, and my pills. "I HATE you, pills", I thought every morning. I thought they helped during the morning, but they wore off as the day goes on... Just like Joey. So I think that I have a lot in common with Joey, what do you have in common with him???

Joey pigza swallowed the key is a great book!

Mrs. B said...

KMC-I guess the Dad is kind of a dead beat. He didn't want the responsibility of a kid with problems. And, I guess the mom went after him because she loves him. Those are just my thoughts, though, what do you think?

ACG-You are truly AWESOME to be able to verbalize your thoughts on and experiences with A.D.D. in the way that you just did. You go girl!

Anonymous said...

acg i dont think that really have anything in common with joey.

Anonymous said...

I think my wrost favorite part is when joey got his fingernail cut in the pencil sharpener. What was your worst and favorite part?

Anonymous said...

here are some famous people that have or had ADD: Amelia Earhart, Beethoven, Albert Einstein, Walt Disney, Thomas Edison, Ben Franklin, Henry Ford, Milton Hershey (yes, the chocolate guy) Abraham Lincoln, Pablo Picasso, Vincent van Gough, Babe Ruth, and a whole lot more! (I just didn't want to make this go on forever)

Anonymous said...

Wow acg I never knew that Abraham Lincoln had A.D.D.

Anonymous said...

WHOA i never knew so many people had add. Did some of them have it really bad or just like a little bit?

Anonymous said...

kmc, i do not know how bad these people had ADD because they lived like forvever ago. But i do know that they were very brilliant!!!!! isn't that sweet?!?!?!?!?

Does anyone think that the special ed room is kind of weird, i do because why would they have bunny slippers for a ten year old boy? I dont like the teacher because she didnt let him do anything on the field trip.I thougt it was weird that he thought the owl was talking to him like WHO and he thought it meant who are you. I wouldnt be able to sneak in and grab a pie. I think joey is a dare devil to go and sneak in. I also every once in a while i think about the grandma and what happend to the dad. i think that joeys techer might not let him go to the next grade because all sh really does is send him to the special ed room. I dont think that joey ever would cry because he didnt get to really do anything at the field trip and he just didnt cry.Who likes this book i LOVE IT A LOT. it might even be my favorite.
